About
Sebastian M. Norton, Esq. is an accomplished and reputed Virginia and D.C. attorney specializing in estate planning as well as criminal, traffic, and juvenile representation.
Sebastian has provided countless Virginia and D.C. clients with necessary, custom-tailored testamentary documents such as wills, trusts, power of attorney and advance medical directives. Additionally, Sebastian has represented hundreds of clients in courts in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. including multiple complex and high-level jury and bench trials.
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Sebastian completed his studies in philosophy and political science at Tulane University in New Orleans, before being admitted to Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he served on the Law Review and graduated in the top 5% of his law school class.
During law school, Sebastian served as a research assistant to an esteemed criminal law and evidence professor, editing publications on constitutional rights and updating an annual evidence textbook.
Sebastian has also served as a legal clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana, where he worked alongside federal prosecutors in cases involving public corruption, wage theft, environmental crimes, drug conspiracy, and police brutality (including the ‘Danziger Bridge’ cases).
Sebastian returned to Alexandria and the Washington, D.C. area and began to practice law in Virginia and Washington, D.C. He worked as an associate at a successful litigation law firm, Bartoli Cain Wason, PLLC, specializing in serious medical malpractice and wrongful death cases. Sebastian opened his own practice in 2014, The Norton Firm, focusing on estate planning and criminal defense.
Sebastian practiced at The Norton Firm until joining King, Campbell, Poretz & Mitchell, PLLC in January 2021. Sebastian has represented hundreds of clients and businesses in planning their estates for the future.
Sebastian was certified in 2013 by the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission to represent indigent clients charged with committing misdemeanors and serious felonies as well as juveniles accused of crimes, ranging from DUI and larceny to malicious wounding and serious gun and drug-related offenses.
Sebastian and his family reside in Alexandria and enjoy (pre-pandemic) going to Washington Nationals, Capitals, and Wizards games. In his free time, Sebastian has volunteered to coach youth soccer and basketball.
Sebastian has been acknowledged by Super Lawyers (an exclusive peer-reviewed publication) as a Rising Star in his practice areas from 2017 through 2021.
